What is Jiu-Jitsu?
Jiu-Jitsu is the most ancient scientific Martial Art of attack and defense. It is in fact all Martial Arts in one, and for this reason it is considered to be the most complete and best for real combat.
Why is Jiu-Jitsu so effective in real combat confrontation?
Statistics have proven that 95% of all physical encounters end up on the ground. Most Martial Arts train mainly for stand-up fighting. That means that without grappling skills, you have only 5% chance of winning a street confrontation. Lack of grappling skills can result in serious injuries, and even death. Jiu-Jitsu addresses this area of Self-Defense like no other Martial Arts.
Will training improve my physical fitness?
Jiu-Jitsu training is a great way of getting in shape without getting bored by the same daily workout or routine. By using every part of the body while training, Jiu-Jitsu practitioners tend to lose weight, get lean and gain muscle. When at the gym, you basically work out one or two body parts at a time. Training Jiu-Jitsu will work all parts of the body, enhance flexibility, and increase cardiovascular endurance.
How fast can I learn?
You start learning Jiu-Jitsu Self-Defense techniques in your first few lessons. Within a few months of training, 3x a week, you will be able to defend yourself against bigger and stronger opponents. It is also up to the individual as to how hard he/she wishes to train or the rapid advancement he/she wishes to optain.
Who can study Jiu-Jitsu and at what age?
Jiu-Jitsu can be studied by men, women, and children of all ages. There are no age limitations to the mental and physical benefits which can be experienced from this training.
How old must a child be?
We begin at age 3 & 4 (Little Champs – Intro to BJJ) but then continue our kids from 5 through 12 as they are the most formulative in a childs life. Their basic personality temperamental and value systems are established during these crucial years. Therefore we recommend that boys and girls in this age group begin this valuable training.
